Nasty weather continues to pound parts of New Jersey at this hour, with severe thunderstorms, strong winds and reports of possible funnel clouds hitting the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Morris and Somerset counties, effective through 7 p.m.
Earlier this evening, the weather service issued tornado warnings for parts of Morris, Hunterdon, Sussex, Warren, Monmouth and Ocean counties. Those warnings have since been lifted.
The National Weather Service issued as severe thunderstorm warning for Monmouth, Ocean and northern Burlington County, and local officials reported possible tornado sightings in Jackson Township and Manchester.
Some storms rumbling through the state could produce hail, along with damaging winds of 60 mph or stronger, the weather service said in a bulletin issued this afternoon. The storms could also pack dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning.
The weather service is advising people in these counties to move indoors as a precaution.
In addition to the thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings, the weather service has issued flash-flood watches for several New Jersey counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic.
The flood watch is effective through 1 a.m. Friday, with more bad weather expected to hit the Garden State during the next two days.
